Inspirational/Creative Opening Sequences
I like these opening titles because I like how it gives you an idea at the beginning of them, but then afterwards when it is showing everyones names a part of the titles drift off so it looks like their souls are leaving their bodies which is what this film is about. I find the music in this to be very chilling and scary which I think is really good because it is giving the audience an idea about how scary, jumpy and chilling this film will be. At the beginning of the titles it shows you a young boy asleep and the music is quite chilling yet quite and calm. However, then the camera moves around the house and moves towards this old woman dressed in black holding a candle and the music begins to get louder then when the camera is completely zoomed up to the woman the music stops while the woman is fading then in big red letters the name of the movie (Insidious) pops up and the music starts again and it is really loud which would make the audience jump. It then goes back to calm yet scary.
I like these opening credits because I think they are very dramatic. The clips that are on the credits give the audience a little idea about what the film is about in a nutshell, and it would make the audience want to watch it so they can understand more about the whole concept of the movie.

Audience Research
We created a questionnaire to find out more information about the general film audience. We are making a horror film so we set our questions around the horror genre so we can see how the audience would respond to our genre. We made the questionnaire and then put it up on our blogs and then asked friends to do it over twitter. We got 19 responses from these questions:
1) Are you male or female?
2) How old are you?
3) What do you do for a living?
4) How often do you go to the cinema?
5) What time of the day are you most likely to watch films?
6) Who do you usually watch them with?
7) What genre of films do you like? (options given)
8) What is your favourite genre?
9) Which subgenre of horror do you like? (options given)
10) Which of these subgenres do you prefer?
11) What are some of your favourite horror movies? Why?
The majority of people responding were 12-19 who were females. Everyone stated that they are in full time education and 10 people said that they are most likely to watch films with friends along with everyone saying they usually watch films in the evening. Watching horror films in the evening is a better atmosphere because it is in the dark. Also, most of the people responding said they go to the cinema every few weeks.
The horror genre appeared 11 out of 16 of the responses, we also received horror as the favourite genre for 7 of them. The sub genre 'Super Natural' (like our horror film) was chosen 10 times for the favourite sub genre question. I thought this was a good response because our movie is that sub genre so I think those people who chose it would be intrigued to know what it is like.
We had a quite varied range of answers for the question asking about their favourite horror film, the most common answers were The Conjuring and Insidious. They are the films they always have 'something wrong with the house' which is like our film. The other most popular answer was Scream.
